CITY OF HEAVEN – The mountain of Yah (Part 2/3)

The previous blog I expounded on the New Jerusalem descending through the firmament, and how she gives birth to the children of the Most High in their resurrected bodies. Today we will touch on the setting and where Zion/ the City of Heaven/ New Jerusalem will be established.

What did Yeshua mean when He said, we are a city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Mat 5:14)? Or a lit candle that should be placed on a candlestick (menorah) to give light to the house (Mat 5:15)?

The Hill of the Lord or the Mountain of Yah has a very important role entangled into New Jerusalem and the culmination of this age. There is a tonne of scripture on this so I will attempt to narrow it down and keep it as simple as possible.

Could this Matthew 5-hill be the same hill that David refers to or the mountain that Isaiah refers to;

Psalm 24:3-4 KJV

Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

Isa 11:9-11 KJV

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

Okay, so if we take these scriptures and others like Isaiah 25; New Jerusalem will be on a hill or mountain but what if even more specifically it was the seventh mountain on a mountain range similar to a menorah?

Enoch 24:1-2

I went from thence to another place, and saw a mountain of fire flashing both by day and night I proceeded towards it; and perceived seven splendid mountains, which were all different from each other. Their stones were brilliant and beautiful; all were brilliant and splendid to behold; and beautiful was their surface Three mountains were towards the east, and strengthened by being placed one upon another; and three were towards the south, strengthened in a similar manner There were likewise deep valleys, which did not approach each other And the seventh mountain was in the midst of them In length they all resembled the seat of a throne, and odoriferous trees surrounded them…

To me Enoch is describing a place with seven mountains and the seventh happens to be in the middle, which reminds me of the menorah’s description;

Exo 25:31-37 The Eth CEPHER

And you shall make a menorah (seven branched candlestick) of pure gold: of beaten work shall the menorah be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same. And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the menorah out of the one side, and three branches of the menorah out of the other side: Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the menorah. And in the menorah shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers. And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the menorah. Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be one beaten work of pure gold. And you shall make את eth-the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light את eth-the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it.

Just a side note: I think the knop under two branches could possibly represent the gates of the 12 tribes. The remaining 6 mountains/candlesticks represent 2 gates each for each tribes. It might also be noted that the Hebrew word for tribe and branch is the same. But for now let’s get back to New Jerusalem.

Also we see that Enoch 24 describing the stones of the mountains as

… brilliant and beautiful; all were brilliant and splendid to behold; and beautiful was their surface

This links to Revelation;

Rev 21:19-21 KJV

And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

Here the precious stones of the mountains form the foundation of New Jerusalem. We will get more into detail of the living stones in a future blog. Back to the mountains…

Isa 2:2-3 KJV

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Mic 4:1-2 KJV

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Isaiah and Micah are given an identical prophecy of how the New Jerusalem will be exalted above the other mountains and hills. The Torah (instructions) of Yah will go forth from this pinnacle point. It gives new meaning to what He meant when He said He will exalt the humble. I never saw it in a literal sense, but sure seems like it.

This aligns to Enoch and the rest of prophecy. I am not sure if these mountains come down with the new Jerusalem or if they will be elevated from earth when Messiah returns. But I know New Jerusalem will be a city on a hill. New Jerusalem will be the centre and an elevated candlestick on a range of 7 mountains.

Yah will literally make his people to be the city on a hill and literally a light that cannot be hidden. Yah will literally exalt the humble and the meek shall literally inherit the earth. This will truly be the City of the Great King and the Most High (literally) will dwell with men.

Shalom fam
