About Us

Our story

We met in 2011 at an outreach meeting at our university and soon a friendship started growing. We got engaged in that same year and 11 months later we were married.we both have a burning passion to serve the LORD in many creative ways. One of the ways that started to stand out more and more was our zeal for creating melodies and writing lyrics. In 2016 Abba started blessing both of us with songs that poured out of His heart straight into ours. It uplifted our souls when we were weary and filled our hearts with joyful praise for our great and awesome King. We are in awe with Him who has blessed us with this gift.
He made a way for us to capture some of these songs on 2 separate albums. Why 2 different ones? We write in different languages. Edgar enjoys writing in Afrikaans (our home language) and Carmen prefers to write in English (her heart’s language). The 2 albums are being released in December 2018.
This journey has been filled with adventure and we are excited to see what Abba is planning with us for the future, all for His glory and honour.
In Him we live and move and have our being.

“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. Malachi 4:2

God met me when I was in the midst of a mess in 2010. His love wrecked me and I was changed forever.

The music and songs are an overflow of His great love he has lavished upon me. These songs were birthed from heaven.Judah in simple terms means to praise. This has been the banner and anthem of my born-again life. To praise the King of the universe with my heart and soul and live a lifestyle of worship despite the raging war.
‘Son’ speaks to forming part of a family – His family. Yeshua makes us joint heirs with Him and calls us His brothers. In afrikaans ‘son’ means sun. The word says the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings.

Carmen Tehillah

I am very fond of creating music in unity with my King. He was the One who weaved me together with music as a central part of my delicate design.

I honour Him for revealing the rhythms of His heart to me and for equipping me to capture the melodies that He sings over us as His bride.
In Psalm 32:7 he says that He is the one that surrounds us with songs of deliverance. In Zephaniah 3:17 He says that He rejoices over us with singing. Don’t you love that He willingly chooses to sing over us? I long to sing back to Him the Words that He first gave us.
When I was 16 years old I dedicated my life to Yeshua. I had a deep desire to play the piano but couldn’t see myself pursuing classical piano classes. I decided to ask Holy Spirit to teach me how to play the piano. Exodus 31 it tells us of how The Holy Spirit equipped people to build the tabernacle. He started teaching me.
I sat for hours and hours figuring it out. In 2009 I started writing a song here and there. The last song on my Album Songs of deliverance was written at that time. He is so faithful.   Yet there came a dry desert time when I couldn’t write songs- I even struggled to sing. In 2016 the season came to an end.
I was pregnant with our second child at that time. While I laid our oldest bed for an afternoon nap, I told her,”Ari’el, that’s what Abba calls you.” I walked out of her room and as I closed the doors the question suddenly rang in my heart, “I wonder what Abba calls me?”
That evening I woke up during the night and heard the name Tehillah so clearly. As I was pregnant and we hadn’t decided on a name for our baby, I immediately thought the name Tehillah was for the baby and went back to sleep. The next morning I heard Abba’s still small voice whisper, “Tehillah, that’s what I call you”. I immediately started looking up the name.
What I found sounded like the trumpet for the end of the season of little singing. Tehillah means A spontaneous new song. Singing from a melody in your heart by adding words to it. This refers to a special kind of singing-it is singing unprepared, unrehearsed songs. Brings tremendous unity to the body of Christ. Singing straight to God. (source)
I was filled with wonder! He has called me to sing- and not just to sing but to sing new songs. The first song on my album Songs of deliverance was my first fruit after a fruitless season. The fruit came just at the right time as our family stood in front of an incredibly difficult season. I understand now why He said that He would surround me with Songs of deliverance. I would desperately need those Word-filled melodies in the coming months. He is always faithful! I long to share these songs with you that Abba gave me, an i pray that it will fill your heart with His hope and that He will be your hiding place as you listen to a piece of His heart for you.
Carmel was near the place where Elijah was hiding when the LORD spoke to Him in a still small voice (1 Kings 18).
Carmen comes from the Hebrew word Carmel. Its meaning is garden-land, orchard, fruitful.
My prayer for you is that our King will fill your mouth with new songs and joyful shouting as He delivers you into His hiding place of resting in Him, where you may bear fruit in Him.
In Him
we live
and move
and have our being
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God. Isaiah 35:2
